Welcome to the homepage of Danie Nel's music.

I've been playing music since I was 6 or 7 years old on piano, and then later at 15 taking up the guitar. I taught myself guitar out of a book and trying to copy songs by Queen or whoever I had a tape of at the time. At 18 I started writing my own material. At this time I also started doing mod-tracking, which resulted in Vortex One, which you can download for free. 

I've played in bands, yes, but none that you would know (Does Even ring a bell? Didn't think so.) I played solo in since 2000, now and again appearing at the Barleycorn Music evenings and singing my 5 songs.Painting with Light, recorded in 2006, was basically a culmination of my writing up to that point. 

My involvement in our church's worship ministry has also brought lots of meaning to the music I play and write. Een for instance was recorded out of songs I exclusively wrote for worship in our church in 2009. Then a couple of months later I went into studio again and recorded Live to a mic, a sit-down- and-play-13-songs-on-guitar-and-sing-album. Both the previous albums were more produced, with full instrument compliment (me doing the honours on most instruments), but Live to a Mic is essentially like you'll hear me play at home. Raw, undubbed, uncluttered and really into it.
